 QUICK FACTS
Breast Health

Any woman can get breast cancer.

As you get older, your chance of breast cancer increases.

Breast cancer is easier to treat if found early, which makes prevention and early detection crucial.

Most women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.

A mammogram can find breast cancer before it can be felt with the hand.
Screening Recommendations for Breast Health

Breast Self-Exam: All women over the age of 20 should perform a monthly self breast exam.

Clinical Breast Exam: All women over the age of 20 should have a healthcare professional examine their breasts annually.

Mammogram: All women over the age of 40 should have an annual mammogram. If you are at higher risk of developing the disease, speak with your healthcare provider to determine if you should be screened earlier.
Community Mammography Partnership

CMC-Union, the Union County Health Department, and Charlotte Radiology collaborate on a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation provide free screening mammograms for uninsured and under-insured women in Union County. Please call 704-225-2577 for more information.
